It may have seemed that photography had just three roots: Europe, North America and Japan. However as Photography became a global media we began to see a constant flow of images from outside these roots, places such as Africa, Brazil and China. Despite this globalisation India has remained eerily quiet, especially when it comes to contemporary art. But why?
ALKA Pande, advisor at the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre of New Delhi has finally brought insights to us with the exhibition ‘India Awakens- Under the Banyan Tree’. The exhibition takes place from 26.11.2010- 27.02.2011 at the Essl Museum for contemporary art in Wien.
