Bernd Fechner studied theology, philosophy and history of art at the universities of Markurg, Bochum and London. After working with European Institutions in Brussels and in bookpublishing he worked as director of public relations of Taschen Books. After his appointment to the German Society for Photography (DGPh) by Prof. L. Fritz Gruber, he was a member of DGPh┬┤s board directors until 2011.

In 2001 Bernd Fechner founded photomarketing Berlin. photomarketing held and curated photography and art fairs like “FotoBILD BERLIN” and later “EUROPA ART”, an art week with artists, galleries and experts on MS-Europa, the famous five-star-plus cruise ship of German Hapag-Lloyd.

For many years Bernd Fechner was a jury member of the ART COLOGNE, the art fair named by professionals as the “mother of all art fairs”. After being a delegate of the German Arts Council he produces touring lecture programmes and is considered an international expert for the art and photography market.

In 2017 he published a book on the distinguished jewish art critic Paul Westheims, (1886-1963). During recent years Bernd Fechner addresses issues of cultural dialogue and became increasingly involved in the art and photography scenes of Turkey, the Middle East, and specifically Iran.
